The English scientist Michael Faraday was a pioneer in the fields of electromagnetism and electrochemistry.
Faraday was born in Newington, Surrey, on September 22, 1791. He grew up in poverty and didn't learn much in school.
But he was always interested in new things and had a sharp mind, which helped him become one of the most important scientists of the 1800s.

Early Life and Education
Faraday's father was a blacksmith, and when Michael was young, the family moved to London. Even though they were poor, his mother was determined to give him an education. When he was 14, he started going to a local school.
But he had to drop out of school after only two years to work as an apprentice for a bookbinder. It was during this time that he first became interested in science.
Faraday spent his free time reading books about science and going to talks by famous scientists of the time, like Sir Humphry Davy.
